1.3 Policies, Procedures, Programs & Funding
Candidates research, recommend, and implement policies, procedures, programs and funding strategies to support implementation of the shared vision represented in the school, district, state, and federal technology plans and guidelines. Funding strategies may include the development, submission, and evaluation of formal grant proposals.
Artifact: Grant Proposal
Reflection:
The grant proposal to Captain Planet Foundation Grant was created in ITEC 7410 requesting funds to sponsor a new eco-friendly club called Go Green, where students would learn to be eco-friendly and help to educate the school and community. This artifact shows the mastery of standard 1.3 by demonstrating my ability to write and pursue grant proposals for funding projects for my classroom and school. Being articulate and explaining a need is important when asking for funding through grants and this Captain Planet Foundation Grant showcases these qualities.
Through the writing of the Captain Planet Foundation Grant, I learned how to identify a need within my school, locate grants that would help with the need, and how to write a grant, making sure to identify the need and use of the grant funds. If I were given the opportunity to improve upon this artifact, I would add a breakdown of how the money would be spent for the Go Green club. It is important to show the people providing the grant how you would use the money, making sure to emphasis the importance of helping the students learn and grow as young adults. With the creation of the Captain Planet Foundation Grant proposal, it helped to make me aware of possibilities for funding that exist outside of the school. In turn, this helps with student learning because it gives options for class projects and activities that might require more funding then the school can accommodate.
