Artifact: Online Course Syllabus
Reflection:
In ITEC 7480, a syllabus was created for an online course. This artifact demonstrates mastery of the online and blended learning element, because it shows my understanding of how an online course should be run and how to support student learning through an online course.
Through the creation of this artifact, I learned how to facilitate online communication guides that promote student learning and collaboration. If I could alter this artifact, I would add more detail to the course outline. Currently, the syllabus only gives a general overview of what will take place each week, but adding the specific assignments would be more helpful for the students. This artifact impacts student learning, because it takes a unit of study that gets crammed in at the last second because of the CRCT and spreads it out over several weeks for the students to go through from home. This impact can be assessed by talking to the students to see if they learned from the online course and analyzing CRCT data to see if the student scores improved with the changing of how to teach this unit.
