4.1 Digital Equity
Candidates model and promote strategies for achieving equitable access to digital tools and resources and technology-related best practices for all students and teachers.
Reflection:
The Georgia Power partnership proposal and the Captain Planet Foundation grant was created to locate funds and help with student driven activities and lessons both during and after school. This artifact demonstrates mastery of the digital equity element because it shows how to request resources and funds to create an environment where every student has access to technology and other items they need for engaging lessons and projects.
I learned how to identify a need in the school, locate a solution, and write a request for services and funds to help with the need. Being able to gather resources to make sure that students have what they need, which also helps teachers since they can create lessons and projects outside the normal means of the school budget, is important in being able to provide equitable access to everyone. If I could change something, I would change the company I wrote the partnership proposal for. Georgia Power is a great partner for 8th grade science, but for a whole school picture, another company would be better able to help with resources the school needs instead of a specific area. School improvement and student learning would all be impacted through the partnership and grant proposal because resources would be added to the school, which in turn helps student achievement and the overall quality of the school. This can be assessed through feedback from the teachers and students in how the resources impacted their activities and grades.
