3.6 Selecting and Evaluating Digital Tools & Resources
Candidates collaborate with teachers and administrators to select and evaluate digital tools and resources for accuracy, suitability, and compatibility with the school technology infrastructure.
Artifact: Content Area Report: Math and Science
Reflection:
The content area report on math and science was created to help teachers plan standards based lessons that infuse technology and student engagement. Standard 3.6, selecting and evaluating digital tools and resources is demonstrated with the content area report because all the resources in the pamphlet had to be researched and identified by the standards they incorporate and the level of engagement. By evaluating the resources, it guaranteed that resources were quality and would help teachers to create lessons that their students would enjoy and be able to walk away with a working repertoire of the content they wanted them to learn.
I learned a great deal through the creation of the content area report on math and science. I learned how to search for a variety of resources that are standards based while also learning how to determine if resources are engaging for the students as well. To change this artifact, I would include more resources. I feel like there were only a few resources for each content area and for the pamphlet to be more effective, there needs to be more variety so teachers can see the wide spectrum of engaging online activities. This artifact impacts school improvement, faculty development, and student learning by showing teachers what they should be using in their lessons, which creates a better learning environment for students, which then results in overall school improvement. Having conversations with the faculty and students to see how the implementation of the resources has affected school culture and student engagement is the best way to assess the impact the pamphlet has in schools.
