2.6 Instructional Design
Candidates model and facilitate the effective use of research-based best practices in instructional design when designing and developing digital tools, resources, and technology-enhanced learning experiences.
Artifact: Engaged Learner Project
Reflection:
The engaged learner project artifact was developed to bring students an authentic learning environment where the task pushes them to learn while simultaneously engaging them with the concepts and technology that support the learning process. The instructional design element is clearly demonstrated with the engaged learner project artifact because the project has students partaking of best practices while technology is infused throughout to help create an engaging and science heavy experience for every student.
My experience with creating this artifact helped me learn how to apply researched best practices towards a project. I also learned how to create learning environments rich with technology and digital tools that support the students' needs and the expected learning outcomes. If I could change this artifact, I would change the technology students were expected to use. This project was created during my first semester and since then I feel I could better incorporate technology in a meaningful manner instead of making sure the students used technology. This project artifact impacts student learning because it helps them learn in an environment where technology meets the standards, which is where student achievement is greatly affected in a positive correlation. The impact can be assessed by looking at student retention of the concepts through strategic checking for understandings and analyzing the final products the students created.
