2.1 Content Standards & Student Technology Standards
Candidates model and facilitate the design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences aligned with student content standards and student technology standards.
Artifact: Content Area Report: Math and Science
Reflection:
The content area report on middle grades math and science was created in ITEC 7400 to provide technology resources for teachers that create an engaging environment while simultaneously supporting content standards. This artifact demonstrates the mastery of the content standards and student technology standards element because the websites linked in the pamphlet will guide teachers toward technology based activities. These activities create experiences where students are embracing the standards as they learn and collaborate with middle grades math and science websites.
By creating this pamphlet, I learned how to search for middle grades math and science technology related activities. While learning how to find these activities, I also learned how to decipher passive activities from engaging ones. If the chance arose to alter this pamphlet, I would add descriptions for all the links so when the pamphlet is given out teachers would know what each link was without having to type them in their web browser. With adding the descriptions, it would make the pamphlet into multiple pages instead of 1, but descriptions help to allow teachers to try something new instead of seeing a page of websites and then throwing the pamphlet away before even attempting to type in one URL. The work that went into this artifact impacts teacher development by helping them see technologies that can impact and engage students. It also impacts student learning by allowing them the opportunities the increase their knowledge of specific standards for middle grades math and science. The impact can be assessed by talking with teachers and students about the websites listed to see if learning occurred.
